How it works:

There are many great songs on the Red Hot Jazz site. Currently the site is organized by Orchstra or Artist. It IS possible to search the site using its own search page, but as suggested by Scott Alexander, who created the Red Hot Jazz site, it is actually it is more powerful to search it with GOOGLE by using the title, enclosed IN DOUBLE QUOTES, followed by the special annotation: site:www.redhotjazz.com to force a search of only that site. On our search page we make that easy for you.

Song Browsing - A new feature

We have been working with Scott Alexander at the RedHotJazz site to add a new feature so you can browse through song titles looking for something new or something you barely remember. This page you are reading is designed to provide that capability.

Please note, however, that we retrieve ONLY those songs for which there is an audio file on the RedHotJazz site. If you wish to just find discographical information, you may wish to use our search page to search ALL the song references on their site..

The list of songs is periodically retrieved by us, using an automated search of the site: www.redhotjazz.com. They are then reformated to provide a list of song titles and the groups that recorded them. The first column displays the song titles and is a link to the respective audio file.. The second column lists the artists or organization that recorded them and is a link to the information about that artist or group.

In order for the link to the audio file to succeed in playing the tune, you must have Real Networks' player installed on your computer. The player is available for download and install from the link: Real Networks stream player

You may wish to go to the artist/organization page if you want the recording dates and/or composer info as we do not carry them over to this page.).

At present a few items with rather obscure names appear amongst the songs starting with a number . These are primarily "dated" line recordings of radio broadcasts by the Paul Whiteman organizations.

NOTE: The contractions: 'Tain't & 'Twas now sort to the "T" page, 'Sippi is on the "S" page.
Our search code fails on some of the Whiteman recordings, We're working on it, it's weird, but they will be repaired IF we can do it by fixing the automated scan. We do NOT intend to do ANY manual editing of these pages.
